We have so much to tell you about the legendary KEVIN SMITH coming to Oaks Center so excuse me if I skip the pleasantries. I don’t want to waste time with nonsensical stories or stupid jokes no one understands. We need to get right down to business! A lot of time I write this blog and I just write whatever is going through my head at the time and sometimes it could be seen as “Word Vomit” or whatever the kids are calling the ramblings of an old man these days. I think the problem is that I am always being pulled away in many different directions throughout the day, so when I finally get the time to sit down and write the blog, sometimes the stream of consciousness just flows out into the blog. Honestly, I don’t know if I even used stream of consciousness in the right context. Is this even a blog anymore, or have I turned this into a sort of personal Journal? I said I wasn’t going to waste time and here I go wasting more time. Sure, I could go back and start the blog over, but I think we can still save it, so let me try again.
What the Dogma is up my Movie Mates?
No time to waste, so let’s dive right in! KEVIN SMITH is coming to Oaks Center Cinema to do a LIVE, In Person Q&A following a screening of Dogma on Saturday, August 9th! I think Dogma is actually my favorite KEVIN SMITH movie, but there are so many good ones, which is why our Throwback series is all KEVIN SMITH movies! 8/1-8/7 “Clerks”, 8/8-8/14 “Mallrats”, 8/15-8/21 Chasing Amy, 8/22-8/28 “Dogma”, 8/29-9/4 “Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back”. We also have the “Delaware Valley Fest #3: Shorts fest” or as we in the industry like to call it “DVF3” on Saturday, August 23rd. This is a small independent film festival where we give local filmmakers a chance to show off their short films and win trophies. So come out and support local film! The winner of the Film Festival gets to host a free Red Carpet premiere of one of their Movies. Which leads me to my next event announcement… On Sunday, August 24th, we are hosting the Red Carpet Premiere of the winners of DVF 2 and their new movie “Cast and Crew”! Tickets for both of these wonderful events are on sale now, so mosey on over to Oakscenter.net.
What else? What else? Oh yeah, we have movies too! “The Bad Guys 2”, The Naked Gun”, “Together”, “Sketch” “Weapons”, “FREAKIER FRIDAY” (It promises more Freakness than the original), “Americana”, “Nobody 2”, “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Re-Release”, “Eden”, “Honey Don’t”, “Jaws-50th Anniversary”, “The Toxic Avenger”, and probably more! I know I am forgetting something, but that’s all the time we have for today, folks. I wonder if they will edit out the whole first paragraph? But if they do, then they have to edit out this sentence and also find the parts in the middle that, if edited out, will render the whole blog useless. Or am I just saying that to make sure they don’t edit the blog. What a mystery! Oh yeah, speaking of Mystery, we have another Secret Screening on Monday, 8/11. Don’t know what a Secret Screening is? Well, good because it’s a secret. See kids, this is why we ramble, otherwise I would have forgotten to mention the Secret Screening.
